Missing toolbar when creating Concrete5 theme

Posted in February 2012 by under concrete5

Following the guide for creating Concrete5 themes is a great way to start building your own themes and there is an excellent tutorial on how to create a basic HTML theme in 8 minutes.

However in Concrete5.5 the tutorial doesn't work and the toolbar is missing from the top of the page.

It turns out the guide is for versions of Concrete5 previous to 5.5 but that it is easy to fix.

In version 5.5 when you"Make a template editable" by adding the following php

<?php Loader::element('header_required'); ?>

to your default.php file you aslo need to add the following php

<?php Loader::element('footer_required'); ?>

just above the closing body tag of your HTML in default.php.
